About This Site

What is this all about?

Convinceyourmom.com is a website
to help you, you frustrated young
lefty, to convince those close to
you – your parents, your relatives,
your neighbor - to vote against
Bush this November!

Never before have so many young people cared about the
outcome of an election.
We’re fired up, we protest and yell, and
yet somehow we can’t make this basic connection with our folks. Either
we feel angry, but don’t have the facts to support our guts - or we know
the facts but lack the rhetoric. Convinceyourmom.com provides both.

All over America, mothers who raise their kids to work hard,
play nice, and be honest are still supporting a candidate who
embodies none of these values.
Misled by manipulative ads and
turned off by negative campaigning, many folks prefer to assume the
best about George W. Bush – that he’s a good man trying to do a good
job. Convincing them that the nice guy in the plaid shirt clearing brush on
his ranch is actually a front for a political machine determined to hold
on to power and privilege at the expense of the American people is not
going to be easy, but we're here to help.

Use our four patented steps to create a convincing argument before
Election Day! Peruse (or add to) our fact database documenting
Bush’s uncommonly poor leadership! Or if you just need to get your
mom in a talkative mood - bake a pie!

Common Questions:

1) Why Convince Your Mom?

What can we say; some moms need convincing. Also it rhymes.

2) Why don’t you like Bush?

Three reasons:

He says one thing, and does another.
Bush calls his plan to allow more pollution "Clear Skies;" he calls his propping of Middle East regimes "democratization;" he wants to "leave no child behind," but only pays for half of it! Who's a flip-flopper?

He gives fundamentalism a Texas drawl.
Where has Bush not taken the hard line, regardless of evidence or public opinion? Where has he not let ideology guide his black-and-white approach to an increasingly complex world? Whether it's free market ideology, millenial ideology or political ideology, Bush pursues it. He calls it "tough decision-making" - and we call it old-fashioned fundamentalism.

The Bush White House: the buck starts here.
Abu Ghraib? Not his fault. Faulty WMD intelligence? Definitely not his fault. The worst economy since Herbert Hoover? Actually Clinton's fault! We could go on, but that's your job...

3) Don’t you think all politicians are creepy? What’s the difference?

A) Go look at our fact database. We contend that Bush is the creepiest, maybe ever.

B) We don’t believe presidents make social change; people do. A Republican president is much less likely to listen to lefty/progressive demands, and much more likely to listen to the demands of his righty/conservative backers. As a general rule, interest groups always have a greater influence on their friends than their enemies. And if Bush is your friend, well, you’re on the wrong website.
